Video: Peruvian police dress up as World Cup mascots and arrest man

On Thursday (11), in Lima, capital of Peru, Peruvian police officers dressed up as World Cup mascots to arrest a suspected drug trafficker.

In a video released by police, officers dressed as Clutch and Maple, an anthropomorphic bald eagle and an elk, break down a metal door and immobilize the suspect.

According to Colonel Carlos Alcântara Obregón, the operation was part of a police intelligence strategy, and the agents dressed as the mascots to blend into the crowd and approach the suspect, who, according to the investigation, is an avid football fan.

According to local media, authorities seized 2,524 packages of cocaine base paste (CBP), as well as 210 grams of CBP and 209 grams of marijuana. A firearm, ammunition and money were also seized.

This police unit usually dresses its officers as famous characters during operations on holidays, such as Halloween and Christmas.

Agents have also dressed up as superheroes, characters from horror films and even as capybaras.
