Iran opens Ali Khamenei's tomb for visits and Iranians fill the space
Thousands of people participated this Friday (10) in paying tribute to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at the Shrine of Imam Reza, in the city of Mashhad, in northeastern Iran. Images released by the state press show a long line of emotional faithful at the place where the supreme leader was buried.
The opening of the visits took place one day after Khamenei's burial, held at the religious complex considered the most important of Shiite Islam in the country. The ceremony brought together authorities, religious people and supporters of the regime.

The burial ended a week of funeral processions and public acts of mourning organized in different Iranian cities and also in Iraq.
Khamenei died on February 28, at the age of 86, after a United States air strike against the city of Mashhad, on the first day of the war between the two countries. His body remained preserved for around four months until the funeral and burial took place.
With the death of the ayatollah, his son, Mojtaba Khamenei assumed the post of supreme leader of Iran. The succession occurs amid the war with the United States, the increase in regional tensions and a process of reorganization of the power structure built by Ali Khamenei over almost four decades.
