Girl is rescued with a smile on her face in Venezuela
A 12-year-old girl was rescued alive after spending around 30 hours under the rubble of a building that collapsed during the double earthquake that hit Venezuela. The girl's smile when found by rescue teams resonated on social media and gained prominence in the international press. See the video above.

The girl, identified as Fabiana Blanco, was removed from the rubble on June 26, in La Guaira, one of the regions most affected by the earthquakes. According to the Venezuelan newspaper El Nacional, the rescue operation lasted around four hours.
Videos recorded by emergency teams show Fabiana talking to firefighters as they work to clear the way to where she was. In one of the moments, the girl explains why she can't see who is outside.
"What happens is that I can't see you because this is like a pile of concrete", she said.
During the operation, the rescuers also ask if Fabiana can move her fingers. She responds by moving her fingers and remains calm throughout the rescue. In another moment, she smiles when she realizes that the team is close to reaching her.
In a video released this Thursday (2), Fabiana thanked people for their affection. She said she was surprised by the repercussion of the rescue.
"I was surprised by how this image went around the world", she said. "I want to thank the rescuers, God and my mother."
Earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 hit Venezuela on the night of June 24.
The most recent report released by the authorities, this Thursday (2), shows that 2,295 people died in the disaster, and another 11,267 were injured. Hundreds remain missing.
