According to Georgia's public broadcaster 1TV, the confusion began when deputy Giorgi Sharashidze, from the opposition party For Georgia, was giving a speech after the prime minister's presentation.
In the gallery, the oppositionist criticized Kobakhidze and stated that "not even the Georgian Dream" - the party that governs the country - deserved the current prime minister. Sharashidze also said he believed that members of the government party themselves agreed with this assessment.
Also according to the broadcaster, while the deputy was speaking, an argument between a government parliamentarian and another from the opposition evolved into physical attacks in the middle of the plenary.
Next, other parliamentarians entered the confrontation, turning the plenary into a general fight.
Images from the session show deputies exchanging punches and shoves in the middle of the plenary. Men and women took part in the confusion, which, according to reports, lasted several minutes before it was contained.
1TV reported that, after the session was interrupted, the situation was controlled.
