Khamenei's public funeral has been taking place since the early hours of Friday (3), Brasília time, and has already passed through the Iranian capital Tehran and Qom. This Thursday (9) will be the last day of the supreme leader's funeral, in which his coffin will be taken back to Iran, where there will be a procession and burial.
The body of Khamenei, Iranian supreme leader killed in February in US and Israeli bombings, is being laid to rest in the holy Iraqi city this Wednesday, in a brief stage of the public funeral that will take place outside Iran. Later this Wednesday, the Iranian leader's coffin will be taken to Karbala ceremonies, also in Iraq.
The Khamenei's public funeral has been taking place since the early hours of Friday (3), Brasília time, and has already passed through the Iranian capital Tehran and Qom, where a crowd showed up to say goodbye to the supreme leader. Three of his sons went to the ceremony and prayed at their father's coffin, but the other son, the new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei, did not attend.
This Thursday (9) will be the last day of Khamenei's funeral, when his coffin will be taken back to Iran, in Mashhad, where there will be a procession and burial.
