Video: car falls off bridge in China and is swept away by strong floods

A witness recorded the moment a car plunged from a bridge into a fast-flowing river in east-central China on Monday (May 25).

The vehicle was on the edge of the bridge when the structure gave way.

The case occurred in Xiaogan, Hubei province. The car had a mechanical failure and was unable to reverse, according to Chinese media reports.

There are no reports of injuries or deaths in the accident.

Several provinces in China are suffering from serious flooding caused by torrential rain, state broadcaster CCTV reported on Tuesday (26).

CCTV footage showed homes destroyed by landslides and emergency teams carrying out evacuation operations in inflatable boats.
