According to the Venezuelan portal El Pitazo, the birth took place after a pregnant woman was rescued from the rubble and fell ill upon reaching a safe area.
With no structure available on site, volunteer doctor María Fernanda Terán decided to provide care and helped with the birth of the child. She shared the video on a social network.
"Bringing a baby into the world while the earth is shaking in La Guaira, Venezuela, was the biggest challenge of my life," she wrote.
Also according to El Pitazo, María is from another city, but was in Caracas when the tremors happened. The portal reported that she went to La Guaira as a volunteer, as the region was most affected by the disaster.
The earthquakes hit Venezuela on Wednesday night (24) and had magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5. The tremors occurred less than a minute apart and caused dozens of buildings to collapse.
According to Venezuelan authorities, more than 900 people died and hundreds were injured. The number of victims could still increase in the coming days, as rescue teams continue to search the affected areas.
