A video released this Tuesday (26) shows the moment a three-year-old child is rescued after being trapped outside a residential building in the city of Zhangye, in northwest China's Gansu province.

The images, recorded on May 6, show the boy clinging to a cable while standing on a narrow surface on the third floor of the building, approximately 10 meters from the ground.

In the video, two men appear lying on the edge of the roof trying to reach the child. One of them was identified by local press as merchant Wang Duohong, who helped with the rescue alongside a specialized police officer sent to the scene after a call.

According to police, the officer arrived on the roof about seven minutes later and, together with Wang, managed to carefully approach the boy before pulling him to safety.

Witnesses reported that residents heard a child crying and asking for help outside the building. Initially, neighbors tried to reach the boy using a ladder, but the equipment was not high enough.

According to local community officials, the child had been left alone at home while family members went out shopping.

Authorities believe the boy climbed through a window and ended up outside the apartment. Another version reported by the local press states that he was playing when he tripped and ended up hanging on the cable.

The boy was not injured and was handed over to his grandfather after the rescue.

"At that moment, I didn't really think about being scared. I was just worried to see such a small child hanging there," Wang told local media.

"We are all neighbors and as long as the child was rescued safely, that's all that matters," he added.
