VIDEO: 11-year-old boy is rescued after being buried in Venezuela

A video released by the UNGRD (National Unit for Disaster Risk Management), in Colombia, this Saturday (27), shows the rescue of an 11-year-old boy who was trapped under the rubble of a building after the earthquakes that hit Venezuela on Wednesday (24).

According to the agency, Moisés was buried about three meters deep in La Guaira, the state most affected by the tremors.

Before the rescue, the team released a video that showed one of the rescuers maintaining contact with the boy, who had been given water and a flashlight while rescuers removed debris to reach him.

The operation was conducted by the Colombian search and rescue team USAR COL-1, sent to Venezuela to assist in international operations.

Hours later, UNGRD published a new video showing the moment Moses is pulled alive from the rubble.

According to the agency, the rescue took around six hours.

"With immense pride, we inform you that the Colombian USAR COL-1 team rescued Moisés, the 11-year-old boy trapped under the rubble in La Guaira. After six hours of meticulous work, our rescuers reached the boy, who was three meters deep, and rescued him safely," the agency reported.

Earthquakes left more than 1,400 dead
The rescue comes as international teams continue to search for survivors after the strong earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 that hit Venezuela.

According to the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, the death toll reached 1,430, while 3,200 people were injured and 3,142 were left homeless.

Since Wednesday, the country has recorded 430 aftershocks, with La Guaira concentrating most of the destruction.

More than 1,600 rescuers from different countries have already arrived in the country to reinforce search and rescue operations. Teams from Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, United States, Spain, Switzerland, Ecuador, Chile, Dominican Republic, Panama and El Salvador participate in the work.
