US will declare "total victory" over Iran in the coming weeks, says Trump

US President Donald Trump suggested that the United States will declare "total victory" over Iran in the next two weeks, in a virtual rally for South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, who is running in the primaries this Tuesday (8).

"We're negotiating right now, and they want to make a great deal. They're willing to give us everything, they're willing to give us no nuclear weapons," Trump said.

"I think we're winning this battle, but you're really going to win it in the next two weeks when we declare total victory. It will be total victory, it will happen very soon, and oil prices will fall dramatically," the American president added.

It's not the first time he's made promises about significant progress in "two weeks." The ceasefire with Iran, announced on April 7, was initially supposed to last two weeks while the two sides finalized an agreement to end the war.

When asked on Meet the Press why Iran wouldn't agree to a deal even though it was so desperate to do it, as he has repeatedly stated, Trump said: "Because they are strong. They are proud. There are things they never thought they would do that they will have to do. They have no choice. And that takes time."
