US vs. Iran: Attacks between Israel and Hezbollah continue despite agreement

Israel and Hezbollah continued clashes on Monday (15), with both the Israeli Armed Forces and the Lebanese group claiming responsibility for attacks in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah said in two separate Telegram messages on Monday that it had hit Israeli tanks and vehicles with drones, rocket launchers and artillery shells. The group said clashes were "ongoing".

The Israel Defense Forces, for its part, said in a statement that Hezbollah launched "an anti-tank missile and several mortars against IDF soldiers operating in southern Lebanon." According to the Army, there were no Israeli soldiers injured. The military also said the Israeli air force carried out "precision strikes" against Hezbollah militants on four occasions on Monday.

The clashes continue even after Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated on Sunday (14) that the "peace agreement" brokered between Iran and the United States includes "the immediate and permanent end of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon."

US President Donald Trump was furious on Sunday when Israel attacked a Beirut suburb and expressed his dissatisfaction to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu using profanity, an American government official told CNN.

Trump later posted on social media that "there should be no more Israeli attacks anywhere in Lebanon."

Israel says it will continue its military occupation of southern Lebanon. Netanyahu told reporters on Monday that he and Trump do not always "see eye to eye" and that Israel will continue its occupations in Lebanon, Gaza and Syria "for as long as necessary."
