US project allows security inspection outside the airport

The United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced a pilot project that could reduce lines at airports.

The tests will be carried out starting June 1st, at Logan International Airport, in Boston. Passengers of Delta Air Lines and JetBlue Airways, with flights between 5:30 am and 4 pm, will be able to carry out the entire security inspection outside the terminal.

With the new system, travelers will check in, check in their luggage and undergo TSA inspection at a remote terminal located in the city of Framingham, Massachusetts. After the process, they will board special buses heading to the airport. There, they can go directly to the restricted area, without having to go through metal detectors or body scanners again.

The transportation price will be US$9 (R$50). Parking at the remote terminal will cost around US$7 per day (R$39). The bus ride between Framingham and Logan International Airport takes about 45 minutes, but may take longer depending on traffic conditions.
