Anthropic will allow, from Wednesday (1st), worldwide access to its latest and most powerful artificial intelligence (AI) models, after the United States government lifts restrictions on their commercialization, the American company said on Tuesday (30).
On June 12, Washington had abruptly forced Anthropic to block access to these two cutting-edge models, Mythos 5 and Fable 5, for national security reasons.
"We have received notification that the Department of Commerce has lifted export controls on Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5," the company said in a post on
Foreign partners, in particular state cybersecurity agencies in Europe and Asia, remained without access.
Anthropic, which has had turbulent relations with the United States government for months, has not clarified whether the measure will allow these foreign bodies to have access to its AI models.
The Donald Trump administration, which has long been hostile to any regulation of AI, changed direction on this policy in light of the powerful capabilities of the most advanced models.
This Tuesday, CIA director John Ratcliffe classified these models as "digital nuclear weapons".
