US-Iran Agreement: Supertankers sail through Hormuz after text signing

At least three Saudi-flagged supertankers, carrying six million barrels of crude oil, crossed the Strait of Hormuz this Thursday (18), according to ship tracking data.

The navigation comes hours after United States President Donald Trump signed an interim agreement with Iran to end the war between the two countries.

Other oil tankers also showed their positions crossing the strait on public ship tracking systems on Thursday, after weeks in which vessels concealed their journeys as they crossed the waterway.

The United States and Iran on Wednesday released the text of an interim agreement signed by their presidents to end the war, although Trump threatened to resume attacks and kill Iranian officials if the country does not meet its commitments.

The Hong Kong-flagged Aframax tanker Tong Lin Wan, which loaded naphtha at the Ruwais Refinery in Abu Dhabi in early March and has remained in the Persian Gulf since then, crossed the strait on Thursday, according to LSEG data.

The tanker Mraikh, controlled by Qatar Energy and loaded with liquefied natural gas (LNG), also crossed the strait this Thursday, according to data from LSEG and Kpler. It loaded its cargo in Ras Laffan on June 12-13 and is scheduled to deliver it to Port Qasim in Pakistan on June 18.

QatarEnergy did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Another Hong Kong-flagged medium-sized tanker, the Ye Chi, passed the Iranian island of Larak but has since stopped in the Strait of Hormuz, according to LSEG data.

Both the Tong Lin Wan and Ye Chi are managed by COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation (600026.SS), according to LSEG data.

COSCO Shipping did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
