CENTCOM (US Central Command) reported that it concluded the new round of attacks against Iran carried out this Tuesday (7).

In a note published on the social network

According to the American military, the offensive aimed to "reduce Iran's ability to continue attacking international trade flowing through this trade corridor."

CENTCOM added that its forces "remain positioned and prepared to hold Iran accountable when the agreement is not met or respected."

Earlier, US Central Command said it had carried out a series of attacks against Iran, adding that the action was in response to what it described as Iranian attacks on three commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on the social network X, CENTCOM stated that the offensive is a response to "Iranian attacks against three commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz".

The US Army also accused Tehran of violating the ceasefire with "unjustified" aggression.

An American official told CNN that the attacks were "not proportionate."

"This is a punishment [...] It won't end anytime soon," said the official.

Iranian state broadcaster Press TV said several explosions were reported in the port cities of Bandar Abbas and Sirik, as well as the island of Qeshm.

State media also reported several explosions on Kharg Island, a vital hub for Tehran's oil exports.

The origin of the explosions reported on the island was unclear.
