US carries out "self-defense" attacks after Iran offensive with missiles and drones

Centcom (United States Central Command) carried out "self-defense" attacks against the Iranian island of Qeshm this Tuesday (2), according to a statement from the American Army.

The military pointed out that the attacks were a response to "attempted attacks by Iran throughout the Middle East."

"Iran launched several ballistic missiles towards neighboring countries in the region; however, all failed to reach their intended targets", highlights the text.

"Two Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait failed to reach their targets or fragmented en route, and three missiles fired at Bahrain were immediately intercepted by US and Bahraini air defense forces," the statement added.

The US attacked an Iranian military ground control station on the island of Qeshm, according to Centcom, and no US service members were injured.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, for its part, said its attacks on Kuwait were a response to "brazen and blatant aggression" by American forces on the island of Qeshm, claiming to have fired at least 10 ballistic missiles.

The Iranian military also stressed that the strikes are an "initial response", warning of a much stronger counterattack to come.
