The Iranian Foreign Ministry called the most recent US strikes against Iran a "clear violation" of the country's national sovereignty and warned Middle Eastern countries hosting US troops that they could be targeted if Iran is attacked again.

"The Iranian military inflicted heavy damage on American bases and installations in the region that served as the source of these attacks," a ministry statement said, adding that Iran "will not hesitate to attack the source of the attacks."

Iran launched attacks on targets in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan this Wednesday (10), after the US attacked Iranian installations near the Strait of Hormuz, in an action that Iran says was in retaliation for the downing of an Army Apache helicopter.

It is unclear whether any US installations in the region suffered damage in the latest attacks, but air defenses have been activated in all three countries.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke by phone with his counterparts in Saudi Arabia and Turkey following the US strikes, the ministry said in a statement

As shown by CNN, CENTCOM (US Central Command) reported on Tuesday night (9) that the army concluded self-defense strikes against Iran in response to the helicopter crash.

The U.S. military said the strikes represented a "proportionate response" to recent attacks on U.S. forces and international ships in regional waters.

In response to the American offensive, Iran launched missiles and drones against US targets in the region, the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) reported.

Why is the Strait of Hormuz so important to the world economy?
