US arrests California technology CEO accused of supplying equipment for Iran's nuclear and military programs

The CEO of a technology company in California, in the United States, was arrested for allegedly supplying North American equipment to the Iranian Armed Forces and the Iranian regime's nuclear program, according to the US Department of Justice this Wednesday (3).

According to the Department of Justice, the man, identified as 63-year-old Jamshid Ghomi, provided the Iranian regime with sophisticated network, security and encryption equipment of North American origin. Ghomi is an Iranian and U.S. citizen and lived in California, where his company operated, the U.S. government said.
Sanctioned by the US government, the Iranian ayatollah regime is prohibited from doing business with any US company.
First Assistant United States Attorney Bill Essayli, who carried out the investigations, stated that, in addition to violating sanctions, Ghomi sold technology that could help Iran in attacks against the United States.
"Ghomi is accused of assisting our declared enemies by selling computer network components of American origin to Iran and profiting millions of dollars," Essayli said in a statement.
Also according to the assistant prosecutor, Ghomi, who is a citizen of the United States and Iran, lived in a mansion valued at US$35 million in Newport Beach, on the outskirts of Los Angeles, California (see the image above).
According to the US government, Ghomi is the CEO of Faraz Pardaz Rayaneh, a computer networking company based in Tehran. The indictment states that the businessman used the company for more than a decade to acquire network equipment of North American origin for clients in Iran.
The US Attorney General's Office stated that neither Ghomi nor the company had authorization from the US Treasury Department to carry out the transactions.
Representatives of Faraz Pardaz Rayaneh had not yet commented on the accusations until the last update of this report. Ghomi remained in prison and is expected to appear in court in Los Angeles this Wednesday.
