After reaching flood level on Saturday afternoon (4), the Uruguay River rose again this Sunday (5) in Rio Grande do Sul.

In São Borja, the river level exceeded the flood level and continues to be monitored by the authorities. At 3:45 pm, the Uruguay River reached 9.57 meters.

According to the coordinator of the 6th Regional Civil Protection and Defense Coordination, Hélio Soares dos Santos Júnior, the water has already stopped rising upstream of the river, the section closest to the source.

The expectation is that the level will begin to stabilize by the evening, as there is no rain forecast in the region.

Since the river began to rise, last Wednesday (1st), the pier area has been experiencing flooding.

Four bars and a kiosk removed equipment and materials to avoid damage due to the flood. A family had to leave their residence and is sheltering in a relative's house.

In Porto Alegre, the municipal Civil Defense continues to continuously monitor the evolution of the level of Guaíba. The last recorded measurement was 0.84 meters.
