Uruguay delays trip to the USA before World Cup debut
The Uruguayan delegation had its trip from Mexico to the United States postponed this Sunday (14) due to a problem with the documentation required for the flight, according to local press reports.
According to reports, the aircraft was delayed for several hours because the documentation that needed to be processed by FIFA was not ready at the time of takeoff.
The Uruguayan team is concentrated in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, and was scheduled to arrive in Miami for its debut in Group H of the 2026 World Cup. The team faces Saudi Arabia this Monday (15).
The setback could also lead to the cancellation of the mandatory press conference scheduled for this Sunday, which would be given by coach Marcelo Bielsa and defender José María Giménez.
To date, neither the Uruguayan Football Association nor FIFA have commented on the case.
