Uruguay and Barcelona starter suffers injury and becomes doubtful for the World Cup
Ronald Araújo, Uruguay and Barcelona's starting defender, was diagnosed with a muscle strain on Sunday (7) and became a doubt for Marcelo Bielsa days before the World Cup.
The defender joins De Arrascaeta, who also plays for Uruguay and was diagnosed with a calf injury.
In a statement released by the Uruguayan National Team on Sunday night, it was informed that the player was released to undergo treatment for the injury with professionals who have already taken care of the athlete before.
"To help treat a muscle ailment, the player [Ronald Araújo] will receive medical treatment from professionals who have treated him previously. The technical committee and the medical department of the Uruguayan Football Association agreed with this decision", begins the report.
"[He] will not participate in activities with the group this Monday (8) and will join the group on Tuesday (9), for the trip towards the World Cup", he continues.
According to the Uruguayan newspaper Ovación, Araújo has been released to travel to Spain, but will have no problem joining Celeste Olímpica's team for the World Cup.
