Unfolds 2.0: Workers will be able to use FGTS from the 26th, says Fazenda
The executive secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Rogério Ceron, stated, this Thursday (20), that from May 26th, workers will be able to use part of the FGTS (Guarantee Fund for Length of Service) to pay off debts under the scope of Novo Desenrola Brasil.
According to the Treasury, next week, workers will begin receiving funds related to the FGTS anniversary withdrawal, and will be able to use up to 20% or R$1,000 - whichever is greater - of the residual of this balance to pay debts through the renegotiation program.
The limit of resources that can be used by workers, from their FGTS, to pay off debts is R$8 billion, adding up all operations using the Fund carried out in the country.
According to Ceron, the R$8 billion ceiling has the function of "keeping the Fund balanced", preventing very large amounts of reserve balances from being withdrawn to pay debts.
However, the Ministry of Finance expects that the amount will not be used in full, as the government's expectation is that Desenrola will consume less than this amount.
"This amount is more than enough to pay off the debts, so we believe that it will not even be used in full. It is more of a control limit", said Rogério Ceron.

The Executive Secretary of Finance also explained that there is no need for people to "despair" or "worry" about withdrawing the FGTS before other debtors, at the "beginning of the queue".
According to Ceron, although there is a limit of resources that can be used for Desenrola Brasil, the economic team's projection is that the process will be able to serve the entire "eligible public" for the FGTS usage modality.
"There is no need for anticipation or rush. But we reinforce that, the sooner citizens contact their banks and register to use the FGTS, if this is the case, the better the progress of renegotiations becomes. Even so that we have more people with their names cleared and regularized as quickly as possible", added Ceron.
