Under-20 starter, Lorenzo has an undefined future at Corinthians and awaits a decision on renewal

Corinthians has not yet defined the contractual situation of defender Lorenzo, one of the starters for the U20 team this season. According to Rádio Itatiaia, the defender's current contract with the club is valid until August this year, and, so far, there is no information about an official proposal for renewing the contract.

Graduated in Timão's youth categories, Lorenzo arrived at Parque São Jorge as a child and has been building his career at the club since he was 12 years old. The defender signed his first professional contract in 2023 and, since then, has started to gain space in the youth teams.

In the current season, the defender is a frequent player in the team led by William Batista. In 2026, Lorenzo formed the starting defense duo alongside Iago Machado and accumulated important participations in the category's competitions. So far, the defender has played 14 games, most of them as a starter, in addition to two goals scored and one assist.

Last Wednesday (10), the young man was on the field in Corinthians' 6-2 defeat of Avaí, in the 14th round of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship, at Fazendinha. Despite the black and white victory, Lorenzo ended up scoring an own goal during the match.

The defender's performance in recent years has also sparked interest outside of Brazil. In 2024, Lorenzo went through a period of evaluation in Italian football, when he trained for around three weeks with Milan. More recently, the player would also have been monitored by Sevilla, from Spain.

In addition to his performances at the base, the defender has already received opportunities to participate in activities with the Corinthians main team, taking part in some training at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava.

Lorenzo's contractual situation occurs at a time when Corinthians is closely monitoring other important ties in the youth categories. Some athletes considered promising also have contracts scheduled to expire in the coming years, which requires attention from the board to avoid future losses.

While awaiting a definition of his future, Lorenzo remains at the disposal of the U20 team for the remainder of the season, seeking to maintain his leading role within the category and increase his chances of achieving opportunities in the professional squad.
