Under-20: Negotiations for the renewal of the Corinthians defender's contract should unfold next week

Defender Lorenzo, who has been one of the pillars of the Corinthians U20 team in 2026 and only has a contract until August 21st, has an indefinite future at Parque São Jorge. Central do Timão found, exclusively, that new developments regarding the negotiations to renew the defender's contract should take place at the beginning of next week.
On June 11, TMC Esporte reported that the Corinthians board had started contacts with the player's representatives to discuss the renewal, but there was still no consensus on extending the contract. The young man has two goals and one assist in 17 games this year and, despite taking over the position alongside Iago Machado after the Copinha, he started some of the last games on the bench. Yago Melo, signed at the beginning of this season with Flamengo, has been playing more often as a starter.

In addition to Lorenzo, coach William Batista currently has the following options for the sector: Iago Machado, Yago Melo, Cauã Ribeiro, Levy Dias, Pedro Paulo and Zé António. For Timão's Under-17s and 20s, he scored five goals in 95 matches, with 53 wins, 19 draws and 23 defeats. His international termination fine is 100 million euros (just over R$594 million at current prices).
Graduated in the Corinthians youth categories, Lorenzo arrived at Parque São Jorge as a child and has been building his career at the club since he was 12 years old. The defender signed his first professional contract in 2023. He even participated in the training of the professional squad when the team was led by Vanderlei Luxemburgo and Ramón Diaz.
Lorenzo has a German passport and, in recent years, has attracted interest from clubs outside Brazil. In the year 2024, Lorenzo went through a period of evaluation in Italian football, when he trained for around three weeks with Milan. More recently, the player would also have been monitored by Sevilla, from Spain.
Corinthians' Under-20s, it is worth remembering, are classified for the quarter-finals of the Brazilian Championship and will face Palmeiras, in matches that should take place on the 8th and 15th of July, according to base dates made available by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). Before that, however, Timãozinho returns to the pitch for the Campeonato Paulista U20.
This Sunday (4), at 11am (Brasília time), Alvinegro will host Sertãozinho, in Fazendinha, for the fourth round of the first phase of the state championship. At this moment, Filhos do Terrão have seven points - three goals scored and zero conceded, occupying fifth place in Group 1.
