Undead? Nathalia Dill comments on Francesca's mystery in "Quem Ama Cuida"
In Brazilian dramaturgy, fantastic realism and psychological mysteries have always had a special place in the hearts of the public. In "Quem Ama Cuida", the current prime time series on TV Globo, it has been no different.
Embodying the enigmatic Francesca, a figure who, until now, moves between absolute presence for Otoniel (Tony Ramos) and total invisibility for the other characters, actress Nathalia Dill, 40, has seen viewers' creativity explode on social media.
In an interview with CNN Brasil, the artist says that the buzz and speculation are the perfect thermometer that the mystery has hooked those on the other side of the screen. "The theories are wonderful. The public is very creative. I've read interpretations that are completely different from each other, and that's a sign that the character is fulfilling her role", he laughs.
Far from being bothered by guesses, she closely follows the public's reception and the guessing game that moves the plot developed by Walcyr Carrasco and Claudia Souto.
"Some people are absolutely sure of who she is, while others see much more symbolic meanings. I have fun following these readings because they often reveal more about whoever is watching than about Francesca herself. The 'who killed it?' it makes the public think, stimulates collective thinking and makes people comment to each other. This is a soap opera", he adds.
When asked what message Francesca would give to other roles that can't see her, Nathalia says: "Not everything is what it seems."

But after all, what is Francesa's real nature?
The title of the work itself carries a duality that is reflected in the character. Would it be a form of care, a haunting from the past or just a projection of Otoniel's mind? According to the actress, there is enormous richness in this uncertainty.
"The most interesting thing is that she can represent a little of all of this at the same time. I think Francesca appears as an opportunity for transformation. She provokes Otoniel to look inside, to revisit feelings and questions that were perhaps dormant", he analyzes.
For the actress, the character's strength lies precisely in instigating, and not in delivering easy solutions: "I like to think that in the relationship between them she is not there to give answers, but to ask questions."
Taking a ride on the plot's great mystery, it's almost impossible not to ask yourself: what would it be like to experience this "superpower" off-screen? If she could remain invisible for a day in the real world, Nathalia Dill confesses that she would put spying aside and use the time to exercise her artist's perspective on everyday life.
"I think the idea of spying on someone loses its appeal very quickly. But I confess that I would love to observe some places without being noticed. Maybe spend a whole day in a busy square, a music festival, an amusement park or something like that, enjoying myself at the same time as I observe people and their stories", reflects the actress, expressing her enchantment with real life: "I think real life is fascinating enough."
