The leaders of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) countries found themselves in a delicate situation after the unusual gift they received from the Turkish president at the end of the annual summit: a personalized six-shooter revolver bullets.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer was the first to mention the gift that Recep Tayyip Erdogan offered his guests.
On the plane back from Ankara, where the leaders who make up the military alliance met for two days, Starmer explained that the Turkish president had given each leader a revolver engraved with his name.
In the same red box, with black lining, there were also six live bullets and a note that exempted the weapons from export controls.
"The Prime Minister [Belgian, Bart De Wever] was surprised and immediately handed the gift to the airport police so that it could be kept in a safe and the rest would be handled according to the applicable procedures", he explained to AFP this Thursday (9).
The Belgian Prime Minister's security teams were also responsible for the weapons given to Ursula von der Leyen and António Costa, main leaders of the European institutions in Brussels, which forced the adoption of strict security protocols.
The president of the European Commission, as surprised as the other leaders by the gift, "thanked President Erdogan for the gesture", according to one of her spokesmen.
Von der Leyen intends to donate the weapon "to a military museum" after it is rendered useless, she added.
Several weapons, such as those given to Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, remain in the Turkish capital for now. Transport is not simple, as current legislation imposes restrictions on the transport of firearms, especially when they are fully operational parts.
