Ukraine attacks Russian industrial facility, says Zelensky

Ukraine attacked an important industrial facility in the Russian city of Volgograd, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this Saturday (27).
Ukraine has stepped up its long-range airstrikes against Russian military industries and energy facilities, with the aim of reducing Moscow's revenue for war and making Russians feel the consequences of the five-year-old invasion.

According to the Ukrainian president, the facility is part of a "large industrial complex" in which Moscow "produces artillery systems and specialized military equipment, including components for missile launch systems." Russia regularly uses it to attack Ukrainian cities."
The governor of the Volgograd region, Andrei Bocharov, confirmed an attack on a company in the Krasnooktyabrsky district, reporting that 10 people were injured and taken to hospital. It said production facilities at the site were damaged, but did not identify the company.
The attack came a day after Ukraine launched what appears to have been one of Kiev's biggest drone attacks since the large-scale invasion of the Kremlin more than four years ago.
The massive nighttime attack targeted a dozen Russian regions, Russian-controlled Crimea and the surrounding seas, Moscow's Defense Ministry said Friday, noting that Russian air defenses intercepted 660 Ukrainian drones.
Zelensky said Thursday he had ordered "a 40-day influence operation," which is believed to mean an escalation of attacks, with the aim of "compelling [Russia] to end the war," after US peace efforts over the past year failed to produce any breakthroughs.
Meanwhile, in Ukraine's Sumy region, a 66-year-old man was killed overnight in a Russian drone strike on a private residence in the region, regional chief Oleh Hryhorov said on Saturday.
