Uber will lay off 23% of HR workers in the restructuring process

Uber will cut around 23% of its workforce in the areas of human resources, recruitment and corporate facilities, in a team restructuring process.

The information was first published by Bloomberg and confirmed by CNN Money.

The initiative is one of the first in the company after Jill Hazelbaker took over as president in early May.

According to a company spokesperson, the cut represents less than 1% of Uber's 34,000 employees worldwide.

The measure also does not affect the approximately 10 million registered drivers, who are considered independent workers.

Uber's operation in Brazil has not confirmed whether employees in the country will be affected by the measure.

Uber also highlighted that the cut is not related to the advancement of artificial intelligence in the company's processes.
