Türkiye announces World Cup squad after 24 years of absence

The Turkish national team released this Tuesday (2) the list of players called up for the World Cup. Among the team's main names are midfielder Hakan Çalhanoglu, from Inter Milan, and striker Arda Güler, from Real Madrid.

Turkey returns to the World Cup after 24 years. The last participation took place in 2002, when the team achieved the best campaign in its history by taking third place in the competition held in Japan and South Korea.

The Turks are in Group D of the World Cup alongside the United States, Paraguay and Australia. The debut will be against the Australians, on June 14, in the city of Vancouver.

- Goalkeepers: Altay Bayindir, Mert Gunok and Ugurcan Çakir;
- Defenders: Abdulkerim Bardakci, Çağlar Söyüncü, Eren Elmali, Ferdi Kadioglu, Merih Demiral, Mert Muldur, Ozan Kabak, Samet Akaydin and Zeki Celik;
- Midfielders: Hakan Çalhanoglu, Ismail Yuksek, Kaan Ayhan, Orkun Kökçü and Salih Özcan;
- Forwards: Arda Güler, Baris Yilmaz, Can Uzun, Deniz Gul, Irfan Kahveci, Kenan Yildiz, Kerem Akturkoglu, Oguz Aydin and Yunus Akgun;
