Romeu Tuma Júnior, president of the Corinthians Deliberative Council, announced this Monday (15) his return to command of the organization after a period of leave. In a message sent to advisors, the director stated that he resumed his role with the aim of contributing to institutional stability and ensuring the advancement of issues considered priorities for the club's future.
In the statement, Tuma informed that, before returning to his position, he carried out a formal consultation to verify the existence of possible proceedings against him in the Ethics Committee of the Deliberative Council. According to him, there is no complaint or process initiated that supports the allegations made public in recent months about an alleged dismissal or possible pressure exerted against the board.

"Despite the speculations and interpretations published publicly since March this year, there is no formal procedure in place, that is, there is nothing to support the versions that I had been removed or that I had exerted any type of undue pressure on the Executive Board", he wrote.
The director also made a point of separating his decision to return to his position from the recent court decision related to the attempt to remove him. According to Tuma, the definition regarding the termination of the license had already been taken previously and is not related to the understanding given by the São Paulo Court last week.
In addition, he denied any intention of assuming the presidency of Corinthians during the international trip of the executive president, Osmar Stabile.
"I do not intend in any way to assume the presidency of the club during President Osmar Stabile's trip in the exercise of his duties", he highlighted.
On the same note, Tuma highlighted two priorities for the Deliberative Council in the coming months: conducting the statutory reform process and ensuring institutional normality during the presidential elections and the renewal of the Council itself, scheduled for November.
According to him, the moment requires unity around voting on statutory changes, so that the General Assembly of members can take place in an orderly environment and with respect to the results of the polls. The president of the Council also defended efforts for internal pacification of the club and for the full functioning of the Electoral Commission responsible for organizing the election.
The return of Romeu Tuma Júnior comes a few days after a decision by the São Paulo Court to recognize irregularities in the convening of the Deliberative Council meeting held on March 23, which aimed to deliberate on his removal from the presidency of the body.
At the time, Tuma still regularly held the position, but the meeting was called directly by President Osmar Stabile, in a procedure questioned by the Justice Committee and the Ethics and Discipline Committee of the Council on the grounds of non-compliance with the statute.
Subsequently, the director chose to take a leave of absence from the presidency of the body, under the argument that the measure was intended to prevent his figure from becoming the center of discussions and harming the progress of debates related to the club's statutory reform.
In analyzing the merits of the action, the judge of the 1st Public Records Court of the Capital concluded that the call for the meeting did not follow the procedure established by Corinthians' statutes. In the sentence handed down last Friday (12), the judge understood that the competence provided for in article 112, item 6, must be exercised through the procedure described in article 82, item II, paragraph "b", and not autonomously by the Presidency of the Board.
The decision noted that, if president Osmar Stabile had the power to directly call meetings of the Deliberative Council, there would be no justification for the existence of a specific statutory rule conditioning this initiative to the presentation of a reasoned request to the president of the collegiate.
In view of the absence of this prior procedure, the judge concluded that the summons was null and void and the resulting acts were annulled.
Although the effects of the sentence were subsequently suspended so that a procedural formality provided for in the Public Records Law could be observed, the decision kept intact the reasoning regarding the existence of the irregularities highlighted.
Tuma sees confirmation of understanding already adopted internally
In contact with Central do Timão, Romeu Tuma Júnior stated that he fully respected the court decision and highlighted that the suspension of the effects of the sentence occurred only out of procedural caution.
"I fully respect the decision made by the Magistrate of the 1st Public Records Court of the Capital, who, out of a mere duty of caution, decided to suspend the sentence of 12/06 so that a formality of the Public Records Law can be fulfilled", he declared.
Then, the president of the Council stated that the formal question does not alter the conclusions already reached by the judge.
"This fact is not capable of altering the conclusions reached in the sentence, which recognized the existence of formal irregularities that had already been completed, which indicates that the outcome advanced by it was maintained."
Tuma also argued that the understanding now accepted by the Judiciary had already been expressed internally by Corinthians' own bodies since the moment the meeting was called.
"This irregularity was recognized from the moment of the ill-fated call by both the club's Justice Committee and the Ethics Committee of the Deliberative Council which, through a note from its president, rejected the maneuver that was taking place at the time. The Judiciary, now, only confirmed this understanding", he concluded.
With Tuma's return to the presidency of the Deliberative Council, Leonardo Pantaleão stops accumulating duties and returns to dedicating himself exclusively to commanding the Ethics Commission. During the interim period, he was the one who led the work of the collegiate and convened the General Assembly of members scheduled for next Saturday (20), when the members will have the final say on the project to reform the Corinthians Statute.
Check out, in full, the note sent by Romeu Tuma Júnior to Corinthians advisors:
After the period of leave from my position, during which I closely monitored and evaluated the Club's situation, I return to the Presidency of the Deliberative Council with the conviction that the moment demands serenity, institutional responsibility and a sense of urgency.
I inform you that I took care to formally consult the existence of possible complaints against me with the Ethics Committee. Despite the speculations and interpretations published publicly since March this year, there is no formal procedure in place, that is, there is nothing to support the versions that I had been removed or that I had exerted any type of undue pressure on the Executive Board.
I would like to add that the decision given last Friday by the judge of the 1st Public Records Court has nothing to do with my decision, which had already been made. It would be needless to say, but I would like to emphasize that I do not intend in any way to assume the presidency of the club during President Osmar Stabile's trip in the exercise of his duties. Therefore, I resume my duties as Presidency of the Deliberative Council, calling on all its Members to give top priority to the institutional life of the club:
1. Bring together all the necessary efforts to unite Corinthians around the vote on the Statute Reform, so that the General Assembly of members is held in an orderly atmosphere and the results of the polls are respected institutionally and legally;
2. Contribute to institutional pacification, which I am sure is in everyone's interest, and to the full normality of the work of the Electoral Commission, with a view to the presidential election and the renewal of this Deliberative Council, next November.
As always, I will count on the collaboration of life and three-year advisors committed to the greater interest of Sport Club Corinthians Paulista.
