Trump warned Netanyahu that he could end up 'fighting alone' if he resumed war against Iran, website says

United States President Donald Trump warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he could end up "fighting alone" if he decided to resume a full-scale war against Iran, the North American website Axios revealed on Monday (8).
"I said: 'Bibi, you better be careful, or very soon you will be on your own'", reported Axios, attributing the speech to Trump in a telephone conversation with Netanyahu.

The conversation would have taken place on Sunday night, hours after Iran launched missiles towards Israeli territory. The Iranian attack, carried out due to Israeli bombings against Lebanon, occurred amid the fragile truce in the war between the two countries - in which the US is also involved.
Trump called Netanyahu to prevent him from retaliating against Tehran, fearing that this would lead to a resumption of the conflict. The Israeli prime minister, however, contradicted Trump and retaliated against Iran on Sunday night. Despite the request, the American president understood that it would be almost impossible to prevent Netanyahu from responding to the Iranian attack, according to Axios.

Even so, Trump continued to pressure against a new escalation between Iran and Israel, criticizing what he called the "stupidity" of the aggressions. This Monday (8) the two countries suspended their mutual attacks, but maintained the threatening tone.
According to Axios, the telephone conversation between Trump and Netanyahu on Sunday night had a much less tense tone than another conversation between the two that took place days earlier, when the two argued and the US president called the Israeli prime minister "completely crazy".
Also according to the US press, the White House's coordination managed to prevent a large-scale attack at the last minute. Israel against Iran, which would involve dozens of Israeli jets. As a result, retaliation has only been limited to targeted bombing on Sunday, so far.
