Trump signed a printed copy of the US-Iran agreement on Wednesday

US President Donald Trump officially signed a copy of the agreement between the United States and Iran during dinner this Wednesday (17), at the Palace of Versailles, according to an American official.

Another American official told Reuters that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also signed the agreement on Wednesday.

Trump and US Vice President JD Vance had already virtually signed the Memorandum of Understanding with Iran, another senior US government official said earlier this week.

The American source stated that Trump has now signed a printed copy.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf signed the document virtually from the Iranian side earlier this week, the senior government official said.

A formal signing ceremony with Vance is still expected to take place on Friday (19), the US official said.

Details of the agreement
The United States released this Wednesday (17) the official text of the memorandum of understanding signed with Iran over the weekend.

A senior US government official presented the document's 14 points, which detail measures to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, ease certain financial restrictions on Iran and establish expectations for addressing Iran's nuclear program in future technical negotiations.

Entitled "Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran", the document was released after criticism that its contents had not been made public.

"This is fundamentally an agreement that allows us to immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz, commit the Iranians to destroy the remaining nuclear material, and create a mechanism by which, if the Iranians demonstrate more cooperative behavior, we will respond by expanding economic and sanctions relief, which could make the country more prosperous," the senior American official said.

The memorandum should be formally signed on Friday (19), beginning a 60-day period for negotiating the final terms of an agreement.

CNN had previously reported on a draft understanding that detailed the proposed conditions.

The official text released by the United States is similar to the draft, but has some wording differences and makes reference to a "minimum methodology" to neutralize Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium - a point that was not included in the preliminary version.
