Trump should go to the NBA Finals at the invitation of the owner of the New York Knicks

President Donald Trump plans to be present at Madison Square Garden for the NBA Finals. The North American leader confirmed that he will attend one of the matches of the decision as guest of honor of James Dolan, owner of the New York Knicks.

Trump revealed that he had initially been invited to Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals. However, the New York Knicks closed the series last Monday by sweeping the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-0, eliminating the need for the match that would be played this Wednesday (27).

"What a team," praised Trump at the White House, during a break in a meeting in his office. "I think I'll go to one of the games, yes. I was invited by several people."

Knicks back to the Finals
Back to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999, the Knicks now await the winner of the Western Conference. The defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder leads the best-of-seven-game series 3-2 against the San Antonio Spurs. Game 6 of the clash will be played on Thursday night (28).

The Western champion will have the advantage of hosting the first two clashes, hosting the Knicks on June 3rd and 5th. Madison Square Garden, in New York, will be the stage for Games 3 and 4, scheduled for June 8th and 10th, respectively.

Trump's relationship with sports and New York
Trump's presence in large arenas is nothing new. Throughout his presidential terms, he attended several prestigious sporting events in the United States, including the Super Bowl, the U.S. Open, the Ryder Cup (golf) and the Daytona 500. In November 2024, he was also present at a UFC event held at Madison Square Garden itself.

A longtime resident of New York before moving to Florida, Trump has had a long-standing relationship with the franchise and businessman James Dolan. In addition to controlling the Knicks, Dolan is also the chief executive of Madison Square Garden and the New York Rangers, an ice hockey team that competes in the NHL.
