The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said this Thursday (18) that the US will pay US$300 billion (around R$1.5 trillion) to help rebuild Iran. The amount is mentioned in the text of the peace agreement signed on Wednesday (17) by Trump and the president of Iran, Masou Pezeshkian.

One of the clauses of the agreement determines the creation of a reconstruction and economic development plan for Iran with a "minimum value of US$300 billion" and determines that the US will develop the plan "together with its regional partners" - the Persian Gulf countries (read more about the points of the agreement below).
The text does not specify where the funds would come from. This Thursday, Trump said that the amount will not be paid by the USA.
"There is no payment of 300 billion dollars from the US to Iran. This is fake news! All that matters to the US is success, falling oil prices and victory. Watch the stock market," Trump said in a post on his social network Truth Social.
Points of the agreement
The agreement signed by the United States and Iran to end the war in the Middle East was officially released on Wednesday (17). The document has 14 points and includes guarantees that Tehran will never have nuclear weapons, the suspension of US sanctions against the country and financial compensation to the Iranian government.

USA and Iran declare the immediate and permanent end of the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon, and commit not to start any conflict against each other and to guarantee territorial integrity and sovereignty Lebanese relations;
US and Iran commit to respect each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity and not to interfere in each other's internal affairs;
US and Iran commit to conduct negotiations to reach a final agreement within 60 days, with a deadline extendable upon mutual consent;

Iran reaffirms that it will not produce or acquire nuclear weapons, and both parties agree to deal with the dilution of enriched uranium through an agreed mechanism and with IAEA supervision. US and Iran also agree to discuss the topic of enrichment and other nuclear issues in the future;
US and Iran agree to maintain the current status quo until they reach a final agreement: Iran will maintain its current nuclear policy; the US will not impose new sanctions or increase its military presence in the Middle East;
US commits to allowing Iran to trade its oil and petrochemical products;
US commits to fully release all Iranian assets and funds that were frozen or restricted by sanctions;
Both parties agree to establish an implementation mechanism to oversee the execution of this memorandum and future adherence to the final agreement;
Upon signing and beginning implementation of clauses 1, 4, 5, 10 and 11, negotiations on the final agreement will focus exclusively on the remaining clauses;
The final agreement will be ratified through a binding UN Security Council resolution within 60 days.

"The The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran have jointly and in good faith agreed to the following:
Paragraph 1 - The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as their allies in the current war, by signing this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), declare the immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, and undertake, from this moment on, not to initiate any war or any military operation between them, to refrain from the threat or use of force against each other and to guarantee the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Lebanon. The final agreement will confirm the permanent termination of the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, as well as the other provisions of this paragraph.
Paragraph 2 - The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran undertake to respect each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity and to refrain from interfering in the other party's internal affairs.
Paragraph. 3 - The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran undertake to negotiate and reach a definitive agreement within a maximum period of 60 days, extendable by mutual consent.
Paragraph 4 - Immediately after signing this MOU, the United States of America will begin to suspend its naval blockade and any disturbance or obstacle imposed on the Islamic Republic of Iran, and will completely end the naval blockade within 30 days. During this period, vessel traffic will be proportional to the amount. volume of movement existing before the war that will be reestablished by the Islamic Republic of Iran. The United States of America further undertakes to withdraw its forces from the vicinity of the Islamic Republic of Iran within 30 days after the signing of the final agreement.
Paragraph 5 - After the signing of this MOU, the Islamic Republic of Iran will adopt measures, using all possible efforts, to guarantee the safe passage of commercial ships, without any charge and only for 60 days, from the Persian Gulf to the Sea of Oman and vice versa. Commercial vessel traffic will resume immediately and - considering the need to remove technical and military obstacles, as well as carry out mine clearance operations by the Islamic Republic of Iran - will be fully restored within 30 days. coastal states of the Persian Gulf, in accordance with applicable international law and the sovereign rights of the coastal States of the Strait of Hormuz.
Paragraph 6 - The United States of America undertakes, together with its regional partners, to develop a definitive and mutually agreed plan, worth a minimum of 300 billion dollars, for the reconstruction and economic development of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The mechanism for implementing this plan will be defined as part of a final agreement within 60 days. The United States of America will grant all necessary licenses, exemptions and authorizations for the relevant financial transactions.
Paragraph 7 - The United States of America undertakes to end all types of sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, including resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, resolutions of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and all unilateral sanctions of the United States, both primary and secondary, in accordance with a schedule to be agreed as part of the final agreement. The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America recognize the critical importance of the issue of lifting the above-mentioned sanctions and express their intention to immediately address these issues in negotiations in order to reach a mutual agreement on them.
Paragraph 8 - The Islamic Republic of Iran reaffirms that it will not acquire or develop nuclear weapons. The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran have agreed to resolve the issue of disposal of stored enriched material through a mechanism to be mutually agreed upon, in accordance with the schedule mentioned in Paragraph 7, with the minimum methodology being on-site dilution under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Both parties also agreed to discuss the issue of enrichment and other matters related to the Islamic Republic of Iran's nuclear needs as may be mutually agreed upon, based on a satisfactory framework established in the final agreement. The final agreement will confirm the provisions of this paragraph. The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran recognize the fundamental importance of the nuclear issues mentioned above and express their intention to immediately address these issues in negotiations in order to reach an agreement.
Paragraph 9 - Pending final agreement, the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran agree to maintain the status quo. The Islamic Republic of Iran will maintain the current status quo of its nuclear program, and the United States of America will not impose new sanctions or deploy additional forces in the region.
Paragraph 10 - The United States of America undertakes that, immediately upon signing this Memorandum of Understanding and until the completion of the sanctions lifting process, the United States Department of the Treasury will issue exemptions for the export of Iranian crude oil, petroleum products and derivatives, as well as for all services associated transactions, including banking, insurance, transportation and others.
Paragraph 11 - The United States of America undertakes to make the funds and assets frozen or subject to restrictions of the Islamic Republic of Iran fully available for use following the implementation of this Memorandum of Understanding. The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran will mutually define the procedures related to the release of these funds during the negotiations. These funds - whether held in the original account or transferred - will be fully available for payment to any final beneficiary designated by the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The United States of America undertakes to issue all necessary licenses and authorizations for this purpose.
Paragraph 12 - The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran agree that an executive mechanism will be established to oversee the correct implementation of this Memorandum of Understanding and future compliance with the final agreement.
Paragraph 13 - Upon signature of this Memorandum of Understanding - and conditioned upon the commencement of implementation of paragraphs 1, 4, 5, 10 and 11, as well as the continued application of these measures - the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran will begin negotiations on the final agreement, exclusively in relation to the remaining paragraphs.
Paragraph 14 - The final agreement will be ratified through a binding resolution of the United Nations Security Council."
