Trump says signing of deal with Iran will take place "later today"

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that the signing of the memorandum with Iran is still scheduled to take place this Sunday (14), despite Israel's most recent attack on Beirut.

"We were scheduled to sign the agreement this morning, and the Israeli attack on Beirut delayed it. I think the signing will still happen later today, within a few hours. But the Israeli attack shook things up," Trump told Axios reporter and CNN political and global affairs analyst Barak Ravid on Sunday.

Trump expressed his disagreement with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to attack Beirut. Earlier, the president published on the Truth Social platform that the attack on Beirut "should not have happened" given the imminent signing of a memorandum of understanding.

"They called me and said, 'Sir, Israel is attacking Beirut' - an hour before we signed the deal. I couldn't believe that was happening. It's really bad," Trump told Ravid, according to the journalist's account on Channel 12.

Trump also told Ravid that he told Netanyahu that he was very "dissatisfied" with the situation.
