The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated this Sunday (7) that the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, will have to accept any agreement that the USA reaches with Iran. He highlighted that Netanyahu "is not the one calling the shots".

"I'm the one who calls the shots. I call all the cards. He (Netanyahu) doesn't call the shots," Trump told the Financial Times. "He will have no choice," the president added.

Trump insisted that the missile attack launched by Iran against Israel on Sunday night "will have no impact on the agreement."

"We'll see how this ends. But they were attacks that had no effect whatsoever. It's one of those things that has been happening for 3,000 years, or for 47 years, depending on how you count," he said.

Trump's remarks about the Israeli leader come after the American president said last week that he was "upset" with Netanyahu over Israel's plans for military operations in Lebanon as the United States worked to reach a peace deal with Iran.

Netanyahu was a vocal critic of the nuclear deal with Iran signed during former President Barack Obama's administration. In 2015, he declared at the UN that the deal only rewarded Iran's "bad behavior."

Attacks against Lebanon
Earlier on Sunday, the Israeli military said it struck Hezbollah-linked targets in the southern suburbs of Beirut after the Lebanese armed group fired into northern Israel, raising fears of a further escalation in the war.

The attack was the first to hit the Lebanese capital since the new ceasefire announced by the United States last week.

In response, Iran fired missile salvos at Israel. The projectiles were intercepted by Israeli forces and there is no information about casualties.

After the attack, Donald Trump spoke with Netanyahu. He said he would pressure Israel not to retaliate and stated he was not happy with the attacks on Lebanon.
