Trump calls for new adjustments to the ceasefire agreement with Iran
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that Iran "agreed not to have nuclear weapons" and announced that he must meet with the Iranian supreme leader, Ayatollah Motjaba Khamenei, in a podcast interview this Wednesday (3).

Amid a tense moment in negotiations between the two countries, with several violations of the ceasefire on both sides, Trump said that Khamenei is involved in the negotiations of the peace agreement and that they will meet "at some point".
"They have already agreed that they will not have nuclear weapons", said the North American president, who was optimistic about the progress of the talks between the two countries: "The situation is evolving quickly. It will be very good".

Two days ago, on Monday (1st), Trump said that the US and Iran should reach an agreement to extend the ceasefire and reopen the Strait of Hormuz next week in an interview with ABC News.
Trump said that he managed to overcome a setback that arose earlier, after Iran threatened to suspend negotiations because of the exchange of attacks between Israel and the extremist group Hezbollah, in Lebanon. According to the president, talks with Iran are at a "fast pace."
"So, I spoke to Hezbollah and told them not to fire, and I spoke to Bibi [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu] and told them not to fire, and they both stopped attacking each other," he said.
Iran conditioned any truce with the United States on the implementation of an effective ceasefire in Lebanon. Iranian diplomatic spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday that an end to the attacks is essential for peace negotiations.
"We insist that a ceasefire in Lebanon is an essential condition for any agreement aimed at ending the war."
The spokesman also accused the US of continuing to violate the ceasefire with Tehran. According to him, Iran will not hesitate to adopt all measures it deems necessary to defend national security.
Iran and the United States have been in a ceasefire since April 7. The two countries have even exchanged targeted attacks in recent weeks. Meanwhile, the Strait of Hormuz - through which a fifth of the world's oil production passes - remains closed to navigation.
The main point of contention in the current negotiations is Iran's nuclear program. The United States demands that Tehran commit to never developing nuclear weapons. Iran claims that the issue is not under discussion at the moment.
