Trump reacts to rising prices in the US: 'I love inflation'

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, commented this Wednesday (10) on the announcement that inflation in the country reached 4.2% in the 12 months ending in May, the highest increase since April 2023.
"You know what I really love? I love inflation," said Trump when asked about the possible impact of rising prices on the performance of his party's allies who will compete the mid-term elections in November.
The Republican also stated that the US carried out, last month, a secret mission to allow oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, blocked by Iran. The closure of the main maritime route through Tehran raised the prices of gasoline, fertilizers and other products.
"When all this is over, you will see the price of oil fall to its previous level", he stated. It will plummet. It will drop like a stone."
