US President Donald Trump published an image where he appears "holding" Greenland, in yet another episode of pressure on the island.

The publication, made on the social network Truth Social, with the caption "Hello, Greenland!", shows the American president holding the territory's mountains while observing the villages.

The post represents yet another attempt to put pressure on the autonomous region belonging to Denmark by the American president. Last month, during an interview with Fox Business, Trump once again argued that the US should acquire the island.

"We should have Greenland to protect the world from Russia and China," he said on April 15.

At the beginning of the year, Trump made strong threats about a possible US takeover and, initially, did not rule out the use of military force.

Later, during his opening speech in Davos, he ruled out the possibility of using military force to annex the island.

Also in April, the Republican criticized NATO and referred to the territory as a "mismanaged piece of ice".

"NATO wasn't there when we needed them and won't be there if we need them again. Remember Greenland, that huge, mismanaged piece of ice," he wrote, in all capital letters.
