Trump offers help to end war in Ukraine in conversation with Putin

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, offered help in finding a solution to the war in Ukraine during an almost 90-minute telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to Kremlin advisor Yuri Ushakov, in statements released in the early hours of this Sunday (5).
According to Ushakov, the offer was made during the call held on Saturday (4), Day of US Independence, in the context of Trump's participation, next week, in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit in Turkey.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, stated that he also spoke with Trump.
"The American president once again confirmed his willingness to work for a quick end to the fighting and find solutions to overcome the crisis", said Ushakov when commenting on the conversation between Trump and Putin.

Ushakov, who classified the conversation as "professional and quite constructive", stated that Russia seeks "a resolution political-diplomatic approach to the conflict, taking into account Russia's fundamental approach."
The advisor also accused Kiev and its European allies of "betting on the prolongation and even escalation of the conflict, as well as terrorism against civilians."
The statement makes reference to the long-range attacks carried out by Ukraine against Russian targets, mainly linked to the oil industry, which caused fuel shortages in several regions of Russia. Russian armed forces advance with confidence, liberating one location after another."
On Friday (3), Russian commanders informed Putin that Moscow's troops had captured the strategic city of Kostiantynivka, in the Donetsk region, in eastern Ukraine.
On Saturday, Zelenskiy disputed the information and stated that Ukrainian forces still maintained control of the city.
