Trump expected to convene cabinet tomorrow amid negotiations with Iran

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, is expected to meet his cabinet on Wednesday (27) at Camp David, a White House official said. According to the source, the main members of the government were summoned at a decisive moment in the war against Iran.

Talks about a possible peace deal with Iran have intensified in recent days, as the president considers a path to halt the fighting, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and conclude negotiations on nuclear issues within 60 days.

There is strong political pressure on the White House to resolve the conflict, with important legislative elections approaching in the coming months.

The rare meeting outside the White House is expected to be attended by all cabinet members, according to the source. The New York Post newspaper was the first to report the meeting.

The meeting comes after significant changes to the president's team: Attorney General Pamela Bondi, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer have left their positions, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard is expected to end her term next month.

This will be the first cabinet meeting since March 26 and will mark the 10th time the cabinet has met during Trump's second term.

The president visited the highly restricted presidential retreat in Maryland relatively few times - just once during his second term and 15 times during his first.

Originally called "Shangri-La", the site has been used as a presidential retreat and space to receive foreign leaders since Franklin Roosevelt's government. The peaceful 72-hectare complex features log cabins, an outdoor pool, a golf course, shooting range, bowling alley and walking trails.

The United States and Iran are working on a memorandum of understanding with the aim of ending the conflict. But disagreements over the wording of the text, related to Iran's nuclear program and sanctions have delayed an agreement.

Amid the negotiations, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard warned that it has the "legitimate" right to respond to any violation of the ceasefire.

The warning comes after the US military carried out what it called "self-defense attacks" against Iranian missile launch sites and vessels in the Strait of Hormuz region.
