Trump calls US Supreme Court's analysis of birthright citizenship a 'miscarriage of justice' and says he will request new review

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said on Wednesday (8) that he will ask the American Supreme Court to reconsider the case challenging his executive order to restrict the right to birthright citizenship, in an attempt considered unlikely to reverse the rejection of one of his main policies.

Last month, the Supreme Court rejected Trump's attempt to limit birthright citizenship in the United States, ruling that his move violated the wording of the 14th Amendment to the American Constitution, which guarantees citizenship to people born in the country and "subject to its jurisdiction."
The U.S. Supreme Court rarely accepts requests for re-examination of cases and does not grant this type of request, after having already issued a ruling in a res judicata case several decades ago.

The Republican president classified the decision, written by the President of the Court, the conservative John Roberts, as a "miscarriage of justice".
"AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP IS NOT FOR SALE! In fact, this is a crime and therefore the Supreme Court's decision is wrong", wrote Trump on his social network, Truth Social. "I will IMMEDIATELY ask the United States Supreme Court to reconsider the case."
Trump, who has repeatedly tested the limits of presidential power in domestic and foreign policy, last year signed an executive order to end birthright citizenship on the first day of his return to the White House. The measure was part of a set of policies aimed at tightening actions against legal and illegal immigration.
