Trump asks the House and Senate to come forward with US$350 billion for Defense

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, asked Congress this Tuesday (7) to prioritize the approval of the legislative package called "Reconciliation 3.0", which provides US$350 billion in resources for Defense and the approval of the Save America Act, when parliamentarians resume work.

In a publication in Truth Social, Trump stated that the American Armed Forces are experiencing a moment of record strength, citing historic levels of recruitment and high troop morale. "The United States military has never been stronger or more powerful. No other nation can do what we do."

According to Trump, new resources are needed to maintain military readiness. "We need to maintain this situation, which is why, when Congress returns, we must pass Reconciliation 3.0, with 350 billion dollars for Defense, in addition to the Save America Act!"

The American president asked the leaders of the House and Senate to make the proposal their top priority and accelerate the processing of the allocation of US$ 350 billion for Defense, quickly removing it from the Budget Committee.

The Save America Act is a Republican-backed bill that would require people who register to vote to show proof of U.S. citizenship.

Trump has already stated that he will not sanction other proposals until the measure is approved and has used this threat to link his approval to projects that have no direct connection, such as the renewal of a surveillance law and a bipartisan proposal on housing.

Trump's pressure comes amid a broader effort to expand defense spending, including a proposed $1.5 trillion military budget for fiscal 2027 and increased weapons production following U.S. military operations against Iran.
