Truck 'missing' for more than ten years is found buried in RS
The City Hall of Araricá, a municipality in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre, announced, this Monday (1st), that after a long search, a 1981 D60 bucket truck was found, buried on the banks of a stream. The vehicle had been missing since 2014.
The Civil Police of Rio Grande do Sul reported that it opened an investigation to investigate the occurrence of possible crimes against public administration or the environment.

The mayor of the municipality, Oséas Garcia, told CNN Brasil that, when analyzing notes from the Court of Auditors regarding the previous administration, one of the main charges against the Municipality of Araricá was the lack of effective control of public assets.
In view of this, the municipal administration established a commission to carry out a survey of the municipality's assets. During the work, the absence of several registered assets was identified, including the D60 bucket truck, year 1981.
According to the investigation, one of the documents found shows that the vehicle received a traffic fine in Porto Alegre, a city located approximately 70 kilometers from Araricá, in 2014. The information proves that, at that time, the truck was still in circulation and in usable condition.
After identifying this information, the administration began searches and collected reports from employees and people linked to the city hall, which indicated that the truck had been buried on the banks of a stream in the municipality.
On May 22nd, city hall machines were used to search the indicated location and, in the middle of the afternoon, the truck was found buried.
After locating the vehicle, a police report was registered, the police were called and an investigation was launched to find out when the crime occurred, who determined it and who participated in the disappearance and concealment of public property.

In a note sent to CNN Brasil, the mayor expressed indignation with the situation and stated that the city has an outdated, scrapped fleet that is insufficient to meet all the community's demands.
"While the municipality needs equipment to work, we discovered that a public truck was buried in the past. We will continue to treat the case with seriousness, transparency and respect for the law, so that the facts are investigated and those responsible are duly held accountable", he concluded.
