Twelve years after that trauma, coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, known as Felipão, once again commented on the behind-the-scenes of the most notable defeat in the history of the Brazilian team.
In an interview with Fantástico's "Pode Ask" section, he revealed what his main concern was when the team reached half-time already trailing 5-0.
"Reassessment when it's 5-0 is difficult", he stated. According to Felipão, at that moment the focus stopped being tactical and became emotional.
"What is the use of someone who is, as I was in that situation, as leader of that group? It was not to have the final devastation with all of them, to show them that the world did not end, that that was not the end, the end of us", he said.
The defeat to Germany became one of the most painful episodes in the history of Brazilian football. In just a few minutes of the first half, the team conceded a sequence of goals that left Mineirão silent and shocked fans inside and outside the country.

'We won as a group, we lost as a group group'
During the conversation, Felipão also reflected on the responsibility for the defeat and rejected the idea of carrying the weight of the result alone.
When reminded that he led both the victory of the fifth championship, in 2002, and the setback in 2014, the coach highlighted that football is a collective construction.
"In 2002, who was world champion? Brazil. But I wasn't the champion. I was one. So, in the 7 to 1, I was one more. I have to know how to put myself in this way. We won as a group, we lost as a group", he said.
How he overcame the trauma
Felipão also said that he needed help from friends to pursue his career after the 2014 World Cup. According to him, one of the most important supports came from Fábio Koff, former president of Grêmio.
The coach reported that, weeks after the elimination, he received an invitation to return to the club. gaucho. The opportunity, according to him, was fundamental to regaining confidence and continuing to work in football.
"So we need friendly people on our side so that these people can give you a hand", he said.
Felipão also said that he never allowed defeat to define his professional trajectory. As an example, he recalled his time in Chinese football after leaving the national team.
"So much so that, years later, I went to work in China, we won seven titles there with my team in China. In other words, 7-1 reversed the seven titles there in China", he said.
