Trade balance has a surplus of US$9.8 billion in June, an increase of 66% compared to last year

Brazil's trade balance recorded a surplus of US$9.8 billion in June, reported the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC) this Friday (3).
The result is a surplus when exports exceed imports. When the opposite happens, the result is a deficit.
The result is 66% higher than the balance of the same month last year (surplus of US$ 5.9 billion).

According to the government, in June:
Exports totaled US$ 36.3 billion, with an increase of 24.9% in the average per business day;
Imports totaled US$ 26.5 billion, with an increase of 14.4% on average per working day.
In the accumulated result for the first six months of the year, the trade balance was positive at US$42.4 billion, a drop of 40.3% compared to the same period last year (US$30.2 billion).
From January to June, exports totaled US$184.8 billion, with an increase of 11.5% in the average per working day. Imports totaled US$ 142.4 billion, with an increase of 5.1% in the average per business day.
United States
Exports to the United States increased 3.7% in June compared to last year, rising from US$ 3.34 billion to US$ 3.47 billion.
US$ 15 billion is the volume of exports that could be affected if a 25% tariff is applied, according to the American Chamber of Commerce for the Brazil

In recent months, sales to the North American market have registered a decline.

Brazil forwarded, this Wednesday (1st), a response to the United States regarding the investigation carried out by the Donald Trump administration that accuses the Brazilian government of adopting practices that "encumber or restrict" trade with the North Americans.
The Brazilian reaction tries to prevent the United States from putting into practice the proposal for additional tariffs of 25% on Brazilian products, in response to the alleged unfair trade practices, described by the Office of Commerce.
In the document, signed by the chancellor Mauro Vieira, Brazil states that the American government's criticism of PIX and the decisions of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) are not related to trade, but to disagreements over internal policies.

The main consumers of products sold by Brazil abroad continue to be China and the European Union, with the United States in third place:
