Pop singer Pink will host the ceremony at Radio City Music Hall, in New York, starting at 9pm (Brasília time), broadcast on Prime Video and Paramount+.
The new musicals "The Lost Boys" and "Schmigadoon!" lead the list of nominees with 12 nominations each, followed by the revival "Ragtime" with 11.
Along with main competitors "The Lost Boys" and "Schmigadoon!", "Titaníque" and "Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York)" garnered strong public support, making the best musical category one of the most competitive in recent years.
This year, Broadway generated US$1.91 billion (about R$9.8 billion) in gross revenue, the highest total on record, as audiences attended both established hits and new productions.
For best play, Bess Wohl's Pulitzer Prize-winning "Liberation" comes in strong, but David Lindsay-Abaire's "The Balusters" has emerged as a formidable opponent after winning top honors at the Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk awards.
The race for best musical revival appears to be a two-show contest between a sweeping production of "Ragtime" and "Cats: The Jellicle Ball," a ballroom-inspired reinvention of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical.
The acting competitions feature a mix of Broadway veterans and Hollywood stars, including Nathan Lane, John Lithgow and Daniel Radcliffe, underscoring the theater's continued ability to attract major film talent.
Adding to the season's intrigue, it was announced that the "Chess" revival will be ending early after its lead Lea Michele was passed over for a nomination.
All seven nominees for best musical and best musical revival will perform during the broadcast.
The ceremony will also feature anniversary celebrations for "Chicago," which celebrates 30 years on Broadway with a tribute led by Queen Latifah, and "The Book of Mormon," whose original cast will reunite for the musical's 15th anniversary.
