Tom King brings together team to create comic reminiscent of "Friends"
Dark Horse Comics announced this week the launch of the new comic "Six of Us", a six-issue miniseries presented as a "Hollywood Noir", style of thriller and American crime drama.
The launch features screenwriter Tom King, author of the miniseries "The Vision", published by Marvel Comics between 2015 and 2016, and which inspired the series "WandaVision".
The work explores themes such as love, violence, art, death and fame. The narrative arc revolves around the consequences of the death of an actor in a series, which shakes Hollywood. As the other cast members confront their pasts, rivalries and secrets emerge, causing fiction and reality to blur.
Although the reference has not been confirmed, the similarity with the plot of "Friends" and the developments in the actors' real lives were observed by the public.
Dark Horse Comics did not mention anything about the series being one of the references for the narrative. However, it is possible to note a parallel between Matthew Perry's death, in 2023, and the reactions of other "Friends" actors.
In the announcement, the publisher revealed some of the artists who signed the alternative covers for the comic. Among them is the Brazilian Fábio Moon, Eisner award winner and co-author of "Daytripper" and the comic book adaptation of "Dois Irmãos".
The first issue of "Six of Us" will be published in the United States on September 9. In Brazil, the material has not yet been announced by the publisher.
