Toluca beats Tigres and wins the third Concacaf Champions Cup title

Toluca won the Concacaf Champions Cup by beating Tigres 6-5 on penalties this Saturday (30), at the Nemesio Díez Stadium, in Toluca, Mexico.

After a goalless draw in regulation time, the decision went to extra time. Jorge Díaz Price opened the scoring for Toluca, but Joaquim Henrique left everything the same for Tigres and took the dispute to penalties.

In the penalties, Toluca came out on top and won the continental title in front of their fans.

With the result, the Diablos Rojos reached their third title in the competition. The Mexican club had previously won Concacaf in 1968 and 2003.

In addition to the cup, the team secured a place in two FIFA competitions: the 2026 Intercontinental Cup and the 2029 Club World Cup.

The Intercontinental Cup annually brings together the continental champions. In addition to Toluca, Flamengo, representative of South America, has already qualified for the 2026 edition; Al-Ahli, from Asia; Paris Saint-Germain, from Europe; Mamelodi Sundowns and Pyramids, from Africa; and Cruz Azul, also representing North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
