TJDF removes Alex Manente from command of Cidadania

A decision by the TJDFT (Court of Justice of the Federal District and Territories) this Friday (3) removed deputy Alex Manente from the national command of Cidadania.

The decision, by judge Rômulo de Araújo Mendes, effectively annuls the congress called by the group of Roberto Freire and Alex Manente that elected the new party command.

The new decision favors the group led by Comte Bittencourt - who currently presides over the PSB in Rio de Janeiro.

The allegation is that the meeting did not have the minimum quorum required by the Citizenship statute. Of the 102 members of the national directory, 65 signed a document saying they were not present.

The internal dispute at Cidadania began last year, when the Court ordered the dismissal of the board chaired by Bittencourt and the inauguration of the former president, Roberto Freire.

The reason for the injunction was that the minutes of the meeting that changed the party command in 2023 were not registered at a notary's office.

At the head of the party again, which has four deputies in the Chamber, Freire worked to place the deputy as president and maintain the federation with the PSDB.

When contacted by CNN, Alex Manente stated that he will wait for the decision to be published before speaking out.

Comte Bittencourt, although no longer in the party, considered it a "good decision".

"It shows the blow that was dealt to the party, in a rigged congress. The judge restored normality and respect for the party statute. But it was a painful process, because there was an emptying of the party", he stated.

The report also sought out former deputy Luzia Ferreira, who was vice-president on the ticket that ran for party command with Bittencourt and remains at the head of the party's process. The space is open.
